Storm of God

New campaign setting - Storm of God - occurred 1 year ago today.

Peace for Elfworld was fleeting. Scarely a generation after the Orc purge was complete, an unprecendented magical storm rocked the land. This storm became known as the "Storm of God," and most were surprised to still be alive when it was over.

Al-Haz endured the direct wrath of the Storm of God. It ravaged towns, killed thousands, and cast the Djinn down among them. In the apparent epicenter of the storm, nothing but a ghost city remains.

In Megalos the Storm of God woke the dead. Legions of rose, most with nothing but a dark hatred. Most of the undead were destroyed, but stories persist of evil things that rose that night.

The Grey Order lost its finest mages to the storm. Some burst into flames. Others were driven mad by visions. Many of the Grey Order's mages now pursue strange agendas.

On the Elvin continent Elves uncontrollably celebrated the storm. Most remember a haze of dancing with the trees and singing with the grass. After the storm had passed Elves wept and the land was not the same.

The Orcs were driven into a bloodthirty frenzy. At least half of the Orcs died killing each other during the Storm of God. Those that lived were scarred or maimed. Those that understand Orcs realize that the fresh corpses are sure to give birth to swarms of goblins.

In the deep halls of the Dwarven Guild, the land cracked and split. Dwarves died by the hundreds, but in the mines a new type of ore was discovered - mithril.

Attitudes
Al-Haz believes the Storm of God was a sign and that the Djinn were sent to help Al-Haz achieve a bold destiny. Prophets of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water pursue their vision for Al-Haz.

The Church of Megalos has declared the Storm of God an omen of evil. Having dealt with the internal problems caused by the storm, Megalos is readying itself for a crusade to purge the Djinn.

The Grey Order believes the Storm of God to be the work of mages. Exactly what the Storm of God was intended to do remains a matter of much debate. Insight on either the cause or the consequences would be of great interest to the Grey Order. Many of the Order's mages also have a keen (probably unhealthy) fascination with the Djinn.

Following the Storm, the Dwarves have discovered and starting working with a new ore they call mithril. Items fashioned of mithril are always stronger, sharper, and lighter than mundane equivalents. Items fashioned with quality craftsmenship benefit from both the high quality bonuses and the benefits mithril naturally provides. Mithril items also acquire secondary traits from those that have used them for any length of time.

The Orc wastes are a fertile ground of goblin swarms. Unchecked, those goblins will grow into an Orc horde dwarfing any hordes ever seen before.

The Noth tribes believe the Storm of God was Ragnarok as the legends foretold. The Noth gods are now gone but legends foretell that seven gods will survive. These seven will by found by the handmaidens of the gods, so Noth maidens have taken the oaths to become Valkyrja.
