The Noth consist of the northern tribes. These tribes are not a uniform nation, but share a belief in the Norse Gods and myths. Most of the tribes are peaceful and get along with their neighbors well. The Noth are proud traders, doughty warriors, occassional farmers, and excellent sailors. For the Noth, the Storm of God was Ragnarok. They believe that the bulk of their gods perished fighting for the survival of all that is. According to legend, seven gods remain (Vithar, Balder, Hoder, Hoenir, Magni, Modi, and Vali) but are scattered across the earth. These seven will be found by the handmaidens of the gods, the Valkyrie.
The Valkyrie
All Valkyrie have a Vow to search for the seven missing gods [-1]. Those that truly dedicate their life possess Obsession (Find the 7, 9 or less) [-15], Higher Purpose (Find the 7) [5], and True Faith [15].Some Valkyrie are are seers. Seers may take Oracle [15], Precognition (Death related events only -40%) [15], See Invisible [15], and Speak with Animals (Wolves and Ravens only -60%) [10], but are actively hunted (see below, either a group or a single powerful 150% PV opponent, Hunter, appears 6 or less) [-10].
Other Valkyrie are powerful warriors. These maidens may take Breath Holding [2/lvl], Recovery [10], Resistant- All Metabolic Hazards (HT+3) [10], See Invisible [15], and Unkillable 1 [50]. However, they must also take the Valkyrie Code (basically Chivalry, instead of women they protect all non-warriors) [-15], Compulsive Carousing, and Overconfidence. If a Valkyrie fails to live up to these ideals, they lose their special advantages until they atone for the original failure.
The Grendel and the Fenris Wolves
Just as the seven survived, so did their many of their ancient enemies. Among these are the grendel and the fenris wolves. Both grendel and fenris wolves know Valkyrie on sight, and are drawn to Valkyrie seers. Either will attack and kill any Valkyrie if possible. True Faith does not protect Valkyrie from either grendel or fenris wolves.Grendel are vaguely humaniod but much larger (8+') and stronger (ST 25+) than any human. Most possess scaly skin (DR 2+), sharp claws (cutting), and regenative abilities (normal to fast with regrowth). They are extremely aggressive and carniverous. Grendel are mostly encountered alone, but occassionally are found in packs. In some places grendel are also known as trolls.
Fenris wolves are much larger (6', ST 14), more intelligent (IQ 7), and more aggressive than normal wolves. They usually travel in packs of six to twelve and prefer to attack from an ambush. Alternatively they will try to distract, divide, and surround so that they can flank or rear attack.
The Legend of Renewal (what happens after Ragnarok)
by http://victorian.fortunecity.com/manet/394/page18a6.htm#The%20Twilight%20of%20GodsA new beginning will come after the world's destruction. The earth will emerge out of the sea and flourish vigorously. The sons and daughters of the Aesir and Vanir will survive Ragnarok and meet in council on the plain of Ida, where Asgard used to be.Odin's sons, Vidar and Vali will meet there and the sons of Thor will join them and be heirs of their fathers hammer, Mjollnir. The beloved god Baldr and his brother Hod will return fron Hel and join the rest, while Hoenir will predict what is to become of the new world.
Bor's sons, Vili and Ve, will be sent to the heavens to rule with the rest. The new ruling gods will congregate and recall past memories of Ragnarok. Treasures that once belonged to the Aesir will be found scattered on grassy plains and will be looked upon with great amazement.
Gimle will once more house the gods in peace and bounty. Good and evil, however, will not cease to exist, for there will be a region in Hel called Nastrond, the shore of the dead. The dragon Nidhogg will survive the fiery doom and continue to gnaw on the bodies of the deceased.
The man and woman who sought shelter under the branches of Yggdrasil will be called Lif and Lifthrasir. They will nourish themselves with dew drops and give birth to many children to repopulate the earth.
From the great Ash new rays of light will come from the skies above, for, a daughter was born by the sun before the wolf swallowed her in the dawn of Ragnarok. This is how it all has ended; and this is how the world begins.
