Dwarven Guild

The Dwarven Guild was founded about a thousand years ago after a small group of Dwarves managed to overthrow the mages of Krakadon. Fearing the Grey Order's retribution more than a thousand artisans, miners, and masons fled to the mountains between the Grey Order and Megalos. These refugees made their homes in tunnels as protection from magic (see the Nature of Magic) and from the armies of the Grey Order (see Naga).

The first years were hard, but an alliance with Megalos helped the Dwarves survive and eventually prosper. Over the years this alliance has grown into a mutual dependence. The Dwarven Guild does the bulk of their work for Megalos, and Megalos relies on the Dwarven Guild for the bulk of its metal and stonework. Dwarven products can be found in any country though, and their craftsmenship is well-respected. Since the Storm of God, the Dwarven Guild has been the sole supplier of /mithril/ goods.

The Dwarven Guild is very secretive and very territorial. The Guild Hall locations are supposed to be a secret though anyone that really wants to know can find out the locations. Visitors are seldom welcome, and only with an invitation. Anyone found wandering in the Dwarven countryside, will be politely escorted out. Anyone that enters a Guild Hall univited will be jailed. Dwarves found in the countryside or in a Guild Hall will be welcomed, though they will not be able to leave without permission.

The Dwarven Guild distrusts mages, naga, and anyone affiliated with the Grey Order (-4 reaction). They generally have no ill will toward other non-humans or civilations, though they do not have many representatives or non-humans living in their territory. The Dwarven Guild does respect Megalos. Any status with Megalos will directly help in dealing with the Guild. Recently the Dwarven Guild has started a prosperous relationship with the Legion. Important Legion representatives will be treated politely with half the bonus they would have in the Legion.

The Dwarven Guild is solidly TL3.
